{Agree with Yourself} The First Two of The Four Agreements

Hey Naturali-Stars!

I am so excited to be in the new year! 2014 is looking so great so far, I don't know where to start to fill you in all the happenings!

Well, first of all I am launching my business Soul On Purpose on Groupon this week coming and am super excited about it!

I just got a writing gig on God Works Magazine as a staff writer!

And of course, you all know I just published a book, Tangerine Blues, this Christmas! This book was a long time coming. The number being purchased isn't the thing. When I think back to the little girl I used to be, whose only friend was a book, a pen and paper at times, the fact that my words are now available to others is amazing to me. God is blessing me and I am full to overflow! I realized today why the feedback from friends and family on FB was affecting me so much and it was because deep down I was believing the garbage I was told about myself as a child and I just recently got fully free from those agreements I made with other people to denigrate myself….

How you might ask…

I joined a Facebook Challenge Group my friend and fellow blogger Nyree Amory of Cliff and Claire put together - It's not her first, but she stated recently that its been the most open to date! We are reading several texts and the first one is The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.

This book is assisting me in honing in on the changes I want to make in how I move through the world, my perspective and my internal dialogue.

The First Agreement:

This first agreement was the hardest one to really get in hand. It is not just to not lie or have integrity but to also not talk about anyone else. Period. It also goes into the fact that our words have power - the mere fact that God spoke the world into existence and we are in His image should give one a clue on how sacred the word is. Man alone can communicate with oral language among the animals on the planet! It delves into how our words to one another create agreements and these agreements can be blessings or curses to ourselves and to others if spoken aloud. Being quiet has become more of priority for me as well as learning when to speak and when to hold my peace. I am going to have to grow with this one because I tend to speak out of anger and haste cursing myself and my children, which has to stop!

The Second Agreement:

This one agreement would save so many so much heartache and pain. It's not so much you don't care about how others feel or what they do and say, it's more akin to acknowledging the fact that everyone has their own lens and what they see, feel, say and do has little to do with you. They are living out their own dream (or nightmare) and it's up to you to decide if you're going to join them! This has been integral to me in my line of work and although I just read this chapter in the book I have been practicing it for a while without knowing. Reading this chapter and agreement, just confirmed for me that I was on the right track with how I have been dealing with people and situations over the past six months or so.

I can see that this year and this group experience are going to be life changing and all for the better.

Wishing you all the best as we embark on this new journey and the uncharted territory that is 2014!
