Perseverance and Perspective

Sometimes, life will throw you curve balls, but how you catch them, shows how you live your life.

I haven't been completely well since, perhaps a couple of days after Christmas. Upper respiratory infection and the like....

BUT I have not, in any way allowed that to stop my sunshine-y optimistic view of my life! I trust and have faith that my life will be great this year, despite my current circumstances!

That is my key to persevering through hard times - be it health, finances, relationships etc.

I refuse to look at what I am going through in my body (right now) and allow it to dampen my enthusiasm for all the other areas of my life that ARE WORKING! I express gratitude and happiness for those areas and although I pay attention to caring for my health, I do NOT BEMOAN or COMPLAIN about its state.

I think that's the ticket!

To remember to be grateful for what is working and to cultivate those feelings while taking care of what isn't without giving it any feedback except to say it won't last long!

I wasn't always that way. I used to complain and moan about what was going wrong until I realized that the more I talked about what was going wrong, the worse it got...

SO...  I STOPPED.

Then I began to get more spiritual and in-tune with God and the Holy Spirit within me and realized that I was making my situation WORSE by my own actions. The more I talked about what was wrong with me and shared it, the more OTHER people talked about what was wrong with me and shared it and then it dawned on me that I was putting more negativity out in the atmosphere about what was wrong with me than what was going well, until I was getting more negativity than anything else!

You can only reap what you sow...

You can only get out what you put in, so if all you do is complain - all you will get, is more to complain about!

Okay, so what do I do to get off of this negative merry-go-round of whatever, you ask? o_O

  1. Stop complaining to yourself! YES TO YOURSELF!! (Otherwise known as negative self-talk or internal dialogue)
    • When you talk to yourself, you set yourself up for either success or failure! 
    • This crucial step is the first one to getting your attitude and outlook to change.
  2. Don't share your troubles with others!
    • Unless they are able to assist you in correcting, fixing or otherwise help you get what needs to be done, done. 
  3. Express GRATITUDE!  - 
    • This last step allows you to see what is going well in your life and change your focus from one that is negative to one that is positive.
These three steps are crucial for someone to get their life out of a downward spiral into nothing but more troubles and issues. 

I am by no means perfect and sometimes miss a step, but I always return back to these three to assist me in getting my perspective right and enhance my perseverance when life throws me a curve ball! 

With these, I can knock that ball right out of the park! POW!
