Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow... Well this color that is!

So this is my hair today...

I did a different kind of braid out and curl this time as my hair has been drying out from the heat and humidity and I needed to do something!

I read on Sisters With Beauty site yesterday that sometimes the humidity can suck the moisture right out of your hair so instead of my usual Infusium 23 Leave-In, with Shea Moisture's Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie and coconut oil/Soul Purpose's Hair Balm, I used:

Giovanni's Direct Leave-In
Shea Moisture's Coconut and Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie
Coconut Oil
Shea Moisture's Organic Coconut and Hibiscus Hold and Shine Moisture Mist

I figured that these ingredients would assist my hair in holding onto moisture and I applied in the order listed. I proceeded to braid up my hair in 14 braids and curl the ends with the gray perm rods last night, usually I shoot for 8-9 braids, but I wanted more curls this go round!

One thing about this process that was different already was that my hair didn't dry overnight! It was still rather damp this morning when I started to take out the rollers so I had to sit under the dryer for about 30 minutes before church! Made me later than usual! :(

Now what's the title about!? Well, next GOC post my hair will be a different color! I have decided to color so with my GOC Update Post, there will be a change to my overall look.

You only live once and I have NEVER dyed my hair before! With the coming season the leaves will be changing their colors so I decided to change mine as well! LOL! I will be doing a lot more protective styling in the fall and winter so I figured coloring my hair wouldn't be as damaging as it would have been if I did it in the summer when I wear it out so much more...

So that's that for today lovies! I will post an after pic tomorrow so that I can show you how this method of braid out worked out for me with the new products and number of braids.

  1. Hey lady! Trying a new color = fun! I hear that certain humectants (like glycerin, for ex.) suck the moisture out of the hair but haven't experienced with any consistency for myself.

how did this new line up work for you? When it finally dried, did it come out how you wanteD?

  2. I haven't taken the braids out yet GG! LOL! I am going to take them out in the morning and take a quick pick before heading in to work... It dried soft and shiny tho, so I am expecting great things from this new twist on things...

I don't know what is going on with the moisture aspects...I am thinking that I need to maybe take my hair down every few days and moisturize it; spray it with water and add some moisturizer and oil then put it back up. I think that will help.

    Thanks for checking in!
